elise irving is an artist and photographer. Trained in both traditional and digital photography, she uses the photographic image as a starting point for investigations into the mutable nature of reality and identity, the non-linearity of time, and the magic of perception. Her work is heavily influenced by the work of Philip K. Dick and Vilem Flusser and her fascination with time travel, magic, simultaneity and multi-dimensional awareness. She received her BA from UC Santa Cruz and earned her MFA at California College of the Arts. She has exhibited widely in both solo and group shows as well as screened her video works both nationally and internationally. Recently, elise has had solo shows at Mills College Art Museum and Aftermodern, and has been included in a group show at the San Jose Institute for Contemporary Art. Currently, she is curating the upcoming Mission Creek Film Festival. elise lives in San Francisco where she teaches photography at California College of Arts and works as a freelance photographer and interior designer.
